The One Hundred Club | Club Community

Here at the Club we are often asked what type of person makes a great candidate for membership and the answer is always the same – someone who values social experiences and interactions and enjoys a facility that focuses on giving the best experience on a daily basis.

Private clubs were once perceived as exclusive enclaves for the ultra-wealthy. A place where only the select few could gain access and an heir of secrecy (or thick cigar smoke) clouded the on goings of these posh institutions.

Gone are the days of the ‘old boys’ culture that was once synonymous with the exclusive private club experience. Here to stay are Clubs that embrace the spirit of social exchange and welcome a diverse group of members from many different backgrounds and sectors. Members who find value in social interaction through robust events schedule, and environment that promotes networking and camaraderie.

Today, successful private social clubs are building memberships by taking in ‘inclusive’ approach to creating a community of members that can celebrate their different points of view and perspectives.

Here at The One Hundred Club, we have always taken the stance of “inclusive, exclusive Club”. Since day one we have welcomed all walks of life to join and have given those who had joined the exclusive rights to membership.  We pride ourselves on welcoming new members into the Club and making them feel at home.

For the last 15 years, The One Hundred Club community has grown to include the leaders of community and business in the Seacoast area. Our diverse membership is made up of professionals from over many different industries. From filmmakers, entrepreneurs, politicians and athletes to investors, manufacturers, models, builders, writers and professors—The One Hundred Club is truly an ‘inclusive, exclusive Club’. We look forward to continuing the diversity of membership here at Club.

If you would like to see what really goes on at New England’s’ finest Private Club, please contact Neil Gibb to schedule a tour of the facility and to learn more about the benefits associated with membership.

Big Brother Big Sisters | Membership Community

One of the most satisfying feelings for us here at the One Hundred Club, is witnessing first-hand the philanthropic power of a generous membership community. Perhaps this is not something that you would attribute to a Member Supported Private Club, but for the past 15 years, the One Hundred Clubs’ esteemed Members have exercised the highest level of philanthropy throughout the Seacoast.

Matt Doubleday & his Little

One specific group, Big Brothers Big Sisters, is made up of some of the most generous, caring and giving individuals. Passionate about their cause, selfless in their time and monetary contributions; these individuals make a difference in the lives of the children that they serve. Big Brothers Big Sisters hosts annual events and monthly board meetings at the One Hundred Club, and it has been a pleasure to work with this group of dedicated individuals.

Big Brothers Big Sisters also holds a very special place in our current and past employees hearts. Dana Wergen, who has been with the Club for over 6 years, was a Little herself and felt that that having a Big made a lasting impression on her. Former employee of the Club,  Matt Doubleday has been a Big for over 7 years and was recently named “2019 Big Brother of the Year”. The award could not be bestowed on more deserving person, Congratulations Matt!

Since 1966, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been the premiere one-to-one mentoring service in the New Hampshire. Their mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. They serve more than 1,000 children in life-changing relationships.

Their community-based program is a mentoring program, where Bigs and Littles are matched in a one-to-one friendship based on gender, interests, personalities, and geographic locations. Volunteers are carefully screened and trained to create a positive impact by sharing their friendship, guidance, and support. Pairs meet at least twice per month for a couple hours to spend quality one-on-one time together, and form meaningful memories just by hanging out.

Mentors take the time to listen, encourage, and model positive behavior while doing everyday activities. Each match is professionally supported by a Match Support Specialist, who is there to support and advise Bigs and parents on this journey.

Coastal Design Magazine | One Hundred Club

One of the things I enjoy most about my job is ACCESS to new beginnings.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Marjorie Thorpe, publisher of Coastal Design Magazine, as she outlined the plan to take her idea from concept to publication.

As she shared her vision with me, her passion and enthusiasm for the project were immediately evident. Flash forward a few short months and Marjorie was proudly handing me an early edition of the completed project – and it is amazing!

Marjorie and her talented team have truly created something special. Their hope is that the magazine will inspire readers with fresh ideas for their homes and gardens and promote in appreciation of the coastal region.

In her “note from the editor” address, Penelope O’Sullivan, editor in chief, States that this is “The start of something big “she goes on to describe this undertaking as only a New Englander can—she likens it to maple syrup making. “You begin with an idea then tap the talent around you to create a new entity, something unique and beautiful that stands on its own, yet reflects the essence of the folks whose work goes into it.”

She goes on to say that “a sense of community develops when you’re part of a team made up of people outstanding in their fields.”

Here at the One Hundred Club we agree with this sentiment. We have witnessed firsthand that “sense of community “ that  exists when talented, passionate, like minded community leaders join in the spirit of social exchange. Magic happens.

The One Hundred Club is proud to be featured in the first edition and proud to have Marjorie, her husband Steve Thorpe, and Coastal Design Magazine as Members of the Club.

Coastal Design Magazine is generously offering complementary copies of the first quarterly edition to One Hundred Club Members. This will be available at the Front Desk on a first come first served basis. This high-quality, quarterly publication is sure to be your next subscription.
