outdoor dining

The One Hundred Club Terrace is the spot for al fresco dining or cocktails with friends. Our members are loving the new custom-made furniture that brings you right to the edge of our beautiful view of the Piscataqua River and all that is Portsmouth! Please be mindful of the weather as reservations made for the terrace do not guarantee seating inside if the weather turns.

Please Note

On Friday, August 27, The One Hundred Club will be closed as we celebrate the wedding of Dana Wergren, Managing Director.

Membership Has Its Perks

One of our key Membership amenities, Valet Parking, is in full swing. Enjoy the luxury of pulling up to the front door and letting our valets handle the downtown Portsmouth parking. Please remember that convenient parking for guests is available across the street in the Hanover Garage.

COCKTAIL CONTEST – The Portsmouth Fog!

If becoming a Certified Bourbon Professional wasn’t enough, this Club favorite now wishes to add Mixology Master to his list of credentials. This summer, New Hampshire Liquor and Wine Outlet is hosting a series of competitions to find the absolute tastiest, most inventive, and out-of-the-box cocktails, and who better to submit an entry than the One Hundred Club’s very own Coby Nevius.

“I knew immediately which drink to submit. The fresh ingredients, a nod to Portsmouth, and the drink’s visual play on our unique weather pattern, makes this beverage a popular summer request at the Clubhouse.”

The Portsmouth Fog

When asked why he chose to enter, Coby mentioned the winner receives a “Good Living” prize package that includes a state-of-the-art stationary bike, gift certificates, espresso martini machine, athletic wear, and a $3000 donation to the charity of the winner’s choice. Coby added he would like to win the bike to help shed his newly found “Dad bod”.

Voting continues through August 8th.

SHOW & TELL WITH SUE

Sue Crowther, Director of Sales and Marketing

Sue Crowther

This summer has been a busy Show and Tell season so far! The club has had many membership inquiries and referrals from current members, so I have been giving tours and discussing the benefits of membership to The One Hundred Club. We have welcomed new residents to the Seacoast region, area business owners, individuals added to our current corporate memberships and even some returning members. Welcome to the club!

PORTSMOUTH ARTS COLLECTIVE

In April, the club was instrumental in bringing together the heads of the major arts non-profits in Portsmouth to collaborate in supporting each other and making Portsmouth a major arts tourism destination. The One Hundred Club has provided utilization of the club to the Executive Directors or designated representatives of Prescott Park Arts Festival, The Seacoast Repertory Theater, 3S Arts Space, Portsmouth Music and Arts Center, and The Music Hall.

It has been my pleasure to work with each of these organizations here at the club to identify their specific goals and help them to utilize the club to their best advantage. In turn, I have had the opportunity to tour each venue and see first-hand what a wonderfully diverse arts community we are so lucky to have here in Portsmouth.

Our members have been fortunate to benefit from this collaboration as we continue to present a series of Showcase events from each organization. The first, held in June, featured board members and performers from The Rep in a cocktail reception with musical performances from this season’s upcoming productions. Look for more of these Showcase events from each of our arts organizations through the remainder of the year.

5th Wednesday Roundtable Dinners, a brainchild of the Arts Collective, will bring together the group and invited community and arts leaders from around the region. The hope is that these intimate, no-agenda dinners will spark new and creative ideas to support the entire cultural community of Portsmouth.

SERVICE AT THE TOP

Rebecca & Dana

It is with the utmost delight that we share the news of the upcoming nuptials of the One Hundred Club’s Managing Director, Dana Wergen! This August, Dana will be tying the knot with former One Hundred Club chef, Chris Cherim.  Although saddened to learn she will be stepping down from her current position at the Club in early September, Dana and Chris have been given the opportunity to fulfill their lifelong dream of pursuing small business ownership. We wish her all the best as she and Chris begin this wonderful new chapter together.

As Dana begins her new adventure, we are happy to announce that Rebecca Sacchetti will take on the role of Event Manager for private social affairs and executive retreats and meetings. Rebecca has been with the Club for almost two years and brings to this new role over twenty years of hospitality, sales and marketing experience. Although she has big shoes to fill, Rebecca truly looks forward to working with you to bring your memorable occasions to fruition. Should you have an inquiry regarding an upcoming date, please email events@onehundredclub.com.

Show and Tell With Sue

Thank you all for the warm welcome I have received during my first two months at the club. As we head into June, it has been wonderful to see the city of Portsmouth continue to open up and to see people coming out to the club. I like to say that my job is to show off this beautiful club of yours and to tell the world what they are missing by not being members! Hence – I do Show & Tell for a living!

Sue Crowther

Membership

My focus has been to share this unique club not only with those who live and work in the Seacoast region but also with you, our members. Utilizing social media, the goal is to give a peek into what being a member looks like up here at the top of Portsmouth so they will ask you what The One Hundred Club is all about and how they can belong also. Remember, membership at the club is by invitation only.

Do you know someone who would be a great fit for the club? Know someone who has recently moved and is looking to connect with like-minded people, professionally or socially? Please consider inviting them to explore club membership. We reward our members with a $500 food credit when a referred new member joins the club.

The referral process follows these steps:

  • Members introduce the prospective member to me in person or through an email introduction at sue@onehundredclub.com
  • I will then share membership information and answer any questions they may have.
  • They will be invited for a cocktail, lunch, dinner or social event.
  • When they, and the club, are comfortable that the fit is right, they will be invited to join the club.

Social Media

If you are not following us on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn, please do! This is where you will see what is happening at the club on a daily basis. In addition to our public Facebook page, I have created a members-only group as well. Below are links to our social media pages for your convenience. Don’t forget to Like, Comment and Share!

Join Me For Happy Hour!

Beginning this week, I will be hosting a Wednesday Happy Hour from 4-6pm. Join me for a casual social meet-and-greet with old and new friends. Guests are welcome. Surprises are likely!

See you at the top!

Sue Crowther, Director of Sales & Marketing

The One Hundred Club is excited to welcome Ms. Sue Crowther as Director of Sales and Marketing! Sue recently relocated to the Seacoast area from Mystic, CT where she has advanced her hospitality and private club career for the past five years. There, she held management positions with both The Ocean House, a Forbes 15-star luxury resort in Watch Hill, RI, and Stonington Country Club in Stonington, CT.

Originally from Ludlow, MA, Sue operated her own catering business as well as a local community theater there. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an Associate of Science in Visual Arts from Holyoke Community College. Sue looks forward to combining her hospitality and marketing skills along with her arts background to welcome new members to the club as well as help curate exceptional experiences for existing members.

“I love the process of helping people find our brand by getting them excited about what they see happening here, connecting the right people to the club through membership sales, and then ensuring that those members stay engaged with dynamic, interesting moments that happen at their new club. I’m so excited about the possibilities that exist for The One Hundred Club and where I see it growing in the very near future.”

Keep an eye out for her monthly contribution to The Port.  And, should you see Sue at the Club, please introduce yourself and give her a warm One Hundred Club Welcome!

HVAC/Air Purification and Sanitization

One Hundred Club COViD-19 Precautions: Since the start of the pandemic, the Club has routinely performed bi-weekly deep cleanings and on-going daily disinfecting. We require all staff to take daily temperature readings and complete a health screening questionnaire prior to each shift.  Because we value the health and safety of all our Members and Staff, we have limited the capacity for events and dining reservations and installed RGF REME Halo UV light air purifiers throughout the Club.

A Master At His Own Craft: Coby Nevius, Bourbon Professional

Wine has Sommeliers. Beer has Cicerones. And now bourbon has Stewards. Often compared to sommeliers and cicerones, bourbon stewards go through intense training to become a master in their trade. The One Hundred Club is happy to announce that Bartender Coby Nevius has recently passed his Level 1 Exam with the Council of Whiskey Masters and can know add Certified Bourbon Professional to his list of accolades.

Coby Nevius, Bourbon Professional

Becoming a master in any subject can take years of practice and dedication. Becoming a Master of Whiskey takes rigorous study and dedication and completes the last step towards the highest level of whiskey certification in the world– an honor awarded only after detailed examination of theory and practical knowledge of scotch, bourbon, and other global whiskeys.  All master-level examinations are held in-person either in Lexington, Kentucky or Inverness, Scotland.

Coby, a seven-year veteran of the Club, first found his appreciation for whiskey (not necessarily bourbon) when he attended the Highland Games in New Hampshire. Now, when not enjoying time with wife, Anna, and 7-month-old son, Hudson, he can be seen behind the Clubhouse bar most evenings.

As a service to Members and Fellow Bourbon Enthusiasts, alike, Coby is available to facilitate Private Dining and Bourbon Experiences at the Club. Gather a small group of your friends and contact Member Services to arrange this personalized experience.

The next time you find yourself At The Top, allow our Certified Bourbon Professional to give you a personalized pour, flight or pairing of some of the rare and unique bourbons we have available to you.

Keep a lookout for information on a Mid-Summer American Whiskey Tasting Dinner!

Coby’s Personal Recommendation: Jefferson’s Reserve Pritchard Hill, Bourbon aged in Cabernet Casks

The Women of One Hundred

Celebrating Women’s Professional Accomplishments

Creative dishes come to life from behind the burners. Logistics, events, and superior service magically unfold on a daily basis. In the spirit of celebrating the success of women in the restaurant industry, we want to acknowledge the Club’s female role models who have chosen to pursue their careers with us. These dedicated industry professionals consistently work to make your experiences at the One Hundred Club stand out as exemplary!

With almost 20 years of combined Club experience, we are proud to say that the majority of staff making hospitality happen for our members are women. Previously of Portsmouth’s Row 34, Sous Chef Marisa brings with her a vast knowledge of seafood from around the world, as well as a flair for colorful Asian-inspired dishes. If you have ever tried a Vegan/Vegetarian dish, or indulged in our special pastries or desserts, you most likely have experienced the work of Chef Gretchen, formerly of Auberge’s Calistoga Ranch in California.

During the daytime, Dana, Managing Director and “Catch-All” Guru, and Rebecca, take care of the members from reservations, dining, event detailing, and corporate meeting services. Lori in Accounts Payable, keeps us all balanced.

When the sun sets, it is our animal-loving Rikki, active military logistics coordinator, Jacinta, and beloved Club veteran, Jillian, who make sure Members are cared for- from soup to nuts. Presley, at the Front Desk to welcome, bid you “good evening”, and assure any last-minute details are properly carried out.

This month we will be recognizing female hospitality professionals by utilizing the color purple, the symbolic color of Women’s History Month, as ingredients in a few of our specials. Our intention is to honor women’s achievements, as well as bringing to light gender equity through spirits and libations inspired by significant New Hampshire women and female industry pioneers. Keep a look out for them on social media and on your plate. Please join us in acknowledging their passion and talents!

Membership Referral and Renovation Update

Greeting esteemed Members,

Thank you for all of your patience over the last 6 months as you have undoubtedly endured many questions about swirling rumors regarding the future of your Club. We have heard everything from “the Club is moving to the “Wharf”, “Demeter’s took over the Club” and the most laughable of all “the Club will be open to the public”. We can assure you that these rumors are not true.

The truth of the matter is that we have been working diligently since early spring to negotiate new lease terms that allow for renovations and upgrades of your Club. We will be building a new custom 20 seat bar with a comfortable lounge and dining areas, a new event space and user-friendly work spaces for daily use. A raw bar, live music, and an expanded wine program are all in the works as we strive to create the Ultimate Private Club experience for our Members who have supported the Club for over a decade.

Can you help?
Construction is slated to begin in January 2020 and we need your help! We are expanding the footprint of the Club and in an effort to continue to grow the membership with quality individuals we will be accepting new members on an ‘Invitation Only’ basis. This means that we are counting on you for your quality referrals.

Do you have a work colleague, neighbor, friend or family member who is interested in joining the Club?  From now until the end of the year we will be conducting a ‘Membership Drive’ with a goal of adding 25 new memberships. All new Members added before January 2020 will receive current pricing and membership benefits, including complimentary room fees and no minimum spending requirements.  In January 2020, the dues and benefits structure will change dramatically for all incoming new members.

Current Membership Pricing

What’s in it for you?
In addition to helping us maintain the high caliber of individuals that currently hold memberships to the Club, for every new member that you refer you will receive a $500 food credit.

How can you help?
To qualify for the $500 food credit, please send an email introduction to Neil Gibb.
The individual(s) that you refer will be invited to tour the Club, make a reservation and sign up for one of two scheduled open houses one on October 24th and November 21st beginning at 5:30pm.

Other ways to help:
If you are interested in showing your support as a major donor, we have naming rights for our new event space and a limited number of “Legacy” Lifetime Memberships available. Please contact Neil Gibb for further details.

Thank you as always for all of your support.
See you at the top!

The One Hundred Club | Club Community

Here at the Club we are often asked what type of person makes a great candidate for membership and the answer is always the same – someone who values social experiences and interactions and enjoys a facility that focuses on giving the best experience on a daily basis.

Private clubs were once perceived as exclusive enclaves for the ultra-wealthy. A place where only the select few could gain access and an heir of secrecy (or thick cigar smoke) clouded the on goings of these posh institutions.

Gone are the days of the ‘old boys’ culture that was once synonymous with the exclusive private club experience. Here to stay are Clubs that embrace the spirit of social exchange and welcome a diverse group of members from many different backgrounds and sectors. Members who find value in social interaction through robust events schedule, and environment that promotes networking and camaraderie.

Today, successful private social clubs are building memberships by taking in ‘inclusive’ approach to creating a community of members that can celebrate their different points of view and perspectives.

Here at The One Hundred Club, we have always taken the stance of “inclusive, exclusive Club”. Since day one we have welcomed all walks of life to join and have given those who had joined the exclusive rights to membership.  We pride ourselves on welcoming new members into the Club and making them feel at home.

For the last 15 years, The One Hundred Club community has grown to include the leaders of community and business in the Seacoast area. Our diverse membership is made up of professionals from over many different industries. From filmmakers, entrepreneurs, politicians and athletes to investors, manufacturers, models, builders, writers and professors—The One Hundred Club is truly an ‘inclusive, exclusive Club’. We look forward to continuing the diversity of membership here at Club.

If you would like to see what really goes on at New England’s’ finest Private Club, please contact Neil Gibb to schedule a tour of the facility and to learn more about the benefits associated with membership.

Prescott Park Arts Festival – 2019 Summer Musical | Membership Community

Last Wednesday evening in front of a packed house at the One Hundred Club, Prescott  Parks Art Festival unveiled their choice for the 2019 summer musical production. Vice President of C&J , Jamie Lesniak, made the announcement that this year’s musical production  will be Beauty and the Beast .

Prescott Park Arts Festival

Prescott Park has been one of the seacoast favorite summertime traditions for more than 44 years. The Arts Festival has been presenting music, art, theater and dance on the banks of the Piscataqua River since 1974 and they have successfully reached over 3.5 million people through more than 10,000 productions.

Ben Anderson, the president of Prescott Park’s Art Foundation believes that this year’s production “has the making of something truly special for our audience”.

The One Hundred Club is proud of our affiliation with this historical gem. “Hosting this kickoff event for the past decade has been an incredible honor” said Neil Gibb, owner and operator of the One Hundred Club.  “As a native of the Seacoast,  Prescott Park has always held a very special place in my heart. In fact one beautiful day in July of 1997 I proposed to my wife on a park bench overlooking the beautifully landscaped slice of heaven. ”

Over the years, One Hundred Club Members have played a key role in the success of the Prescott Park Arts Festival.

Special shout out to all of those members who sponsor, donate and contribute to the success of Portsmouth treasure:
