Professional Women’s Networking Night at the One Hundred Club

The One Hundred Club in Portsmouth, NH was the venue of choice for the Professional Women’s Networking Group’s April event.  Over 100 women attended the reception on the first day of spring (in spite of the late winter snowstorm) in order to gather and support one another.  The evening started with a creative ice-breaker and thought provoking question which set the pace for this fun, dynamic group of women.

According to founding member, Andrea Daly of McLane Law Firm, the Professional Women’s Networking Group “has all evolved in one year based upon word of mouth.  No website or formal blurb.   It was started in March 2012 by Karen McCloskey and me and as an informal way to allow professional women to meet, network, and support each other.  There are no fees and no obligations.  We first met in March 2012 and realized that there was more interest than we had expected.  We spent the summer discussing how to proceed, and began meeting regularly in October 2012.  We do not have a set schedule but have met regularly since then.  To date, different women have hosted each gathering in order to promote their businesses and to avoid the burden being place on any one person.  It has gained so much traction in the past 5 months that we have started talking about how to formalize the group and link people together on a website.  We will get there soon!  We are still looking for an official name, but yes, for now we are going with Professional Women’s Networking Group”.  Anyone interested in joining the mailing list should contact ANDREA.DALY@MCLANE.com

The speaker for the evening was Cathy Duffy Cullity,  CEO of Girls Inc. New Hampshire, who recently received the national organization’s first ever award for “Excellence in Leadership.”  Ms. Duffy started with a raffle for an inspiring film titled “Girl Rising” that is a part of the Music Hall’s Film Matters Series playing that evening at Portsmouth’s very own Music Hall.   Cathy then shared a bit about how they support girls throughout New Hampshire on a local level through their inspiring organization.

IT CAN BE A BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT OR SMALL VICTORY BUT IT’S THE MOMENT THAT A GIRL BELIEVES

THAT HER POTENTIAL IS LIMITLESS.

For girls in our communities, every day brings new opportunities, challenges and choices. The ability to respond with thoughtful, informed decisions at home, school and with friends and peers can be a big step toward confident, healthy and fulfilling careers and lives. At Girls Incorporated of New Hampshire, we know every girl – regardless of her age, background, interests or dreams –has the potential for greatness.

Our mission and passion is to help girls achieve their personal best through one-on-one attention, leadership development, a talented staff and volunteers, a wide range of enrichment programs, and a caring family environment.
