NH Man Survives Panic, Chaos Sparked by Florida Airport Shooting
David Wolowitz was sitting at his gate in the Fort Lauderdale airport around 2 p.m. Friday, waiting to board a flight home and reading news about the deadly attack that had just happened at that very airport. He wasn’t afraid, he said; the shooter was reported to be in custody. He was hungry.Wolowitz, an attorney from Greenland who represents private schools around the country, had flown down the previous day to attend a board meeting. His meeting ended early and his flight out of West Palm Beach wasn’t for hours, so he decided to catch an earlier flight out of Fort Lauderdale. That decision led to an ordeal that would last well into the early morning hours.Wolowitz, who had missed breakfast and lunch, was eyeing the food court, waiting for the lines to diminish, and checking his news feeds regularly.”All of a sudden, out of the blue, all hell broke loose,” he said. “A whole wave of terrified, panicked, hysterical people were running in a group, in a long line, like a flash flood of people coming at us.”
Portsmouth Salon’s First Client has 3,000th Appointment
Marga Coulp opened Classic Cutters in 1975. On Wednesday, her very first customer, Frances Lebel, sat down for their 3,000th appointment together. Lebel, 91, has lived in Portsmouth her entire life. Forty-two years ago, Lebel walked in and welcomed Coulp’s new hair salon to Broad Street, the first of a number of sites where the salon has been located in the city. “It was exciting,” Coulp recalled Wednesday. “She was so exciting. Her personality has never changed. She’s a wealth of information and always so positive. I look up to her. I feel like there was an instant connection between us. It’s been like that since day one.” Coulp said Lebel has always come in to get her hair done on a weekly basis and sometimes multiple times per week. And she’s always been a favorite at the salon.
