Clark Roasted While Being Honored with Foley Award
Family and more than 200 community members and friends of Dr. Geoffrey Clark and New Hampshire state Senator Martha Fuller Clark were on hand to see the couple accept the Eileen D. Foley Award from Friends Forever. Friends Forever takes a grassroots approach in assisting youth from conflict-prone regions of the world such as Northern Ireland, Israel and the occupied territories of Palestine and also Uganda; build lasting friendships across cultural, religious and political divides.
Dover Red’s Race Tradition Continues
The 36th Annual Reds Race for a Better Community will be held on Sunday, April 9, at 10 a.m. beginning at Dover City Hall. The third race in the Dover Race Series, this historic and affordable race features a 5-mile run and a 2.4 mile walking course and is ideal for all members of the community, according to a press release from race organizers. The race that began 36 years ago as Red’s Shoe Barn 5 Mile Road Race is now planned and executed by six non-profit organizations in Strafford County. Today, the race is a successful fundraiser with the goal of strengthening the community through providing support for the various programs and services of the beneficiary organizations.

Work will likely begin on the city’s second downtown parking garage in “late April or May.” Former Deputy City Manager David Allen, who is now the project manager for the new garage being built off Deer Street, said he still believes the roughly 600-space garage will be completed by September 2018.
Umile to Retire as UNH Men’s Hockey Coach following 2017-2018 Season
Nearly 50 years after he arrived in Durham as a college freshman, University of New Hampshire men’s hockey Coach Dick Umile will retire from his post behind the Wildcats’ bench following the 2017-18 season. The university announced Wednesday that Umile will coach the final year of his contract before associate head coach Mike Souza takes over the reigns.
